After a long history of dependency on other communities Hope Unto Dawn has finally been established into its own Gaming Community. Since the creation of HUD, it has been known for hosting epic tournaments to support charity. Just like before the main goal of Hope Unto Dawn still remains the same.
- Supporting Charity! (By hosting epic tournaments.)
- Becoming a big Gaming Community thats fun for everyone!
I, 'Alkaline 3 Gurl' am the current Founder of Hope Unto Dawn, and hope that you will enjoy our community as much as I do. Hope to see you around! ;)
Just like every creation HUD also has its history. Back in April 2009 my friend, 'Caramel Pixel', came to me with an idea to have a charity tournament. I liked it so I decided I wanted to help him out. After a month of deciding who we want on the staff and who we needed to contact we finally thought up a name: 'Hope Unto Dawn'. Then the long process of discussing the tournament with everyone came into play. We asked 'Facility B5D' if they could host the tournament since we didn't have a place of our own to go to. They very eagerly said yes. We contacted 'Bungie' and got 15 sets of Recon Armor to give away to the first place winners, and the other prizes were provided by the HUD staff. The oh so famous 'Bryan Simon' and 'Rooster Teeth' provided us with prizes as well. Thanks for the love everyone! :)
Anyway we announced the tournament on May 27th, 2009 on the Bungie Blog(Comm Chatter), 'Black Water Ops', 'A Match Made in Halo', 'Hawty McBloggy', and many more popular gaming sites. A lot of people showed interest into our Charity Tournament. The tournament started the following weekend on June 5th, 2009. Both the tournament weekends were very successful . The tournament got to an end. Twelve people were granted the 'oh so wanted' Recon Armor. The first ever HUD tournament had proved to be a great success. We raised over $2,000 for Child's Play charity. Everything turned out just as well as planned.
The Bungie group was founded June 13th, 2009. Originally founded by Caramel Pixel. Since he wasn't around for a while he got demoted making me go from Co-Founder to Founder. It was made to be just a regular Halo charity community, or so I got the impression. I wanted it to be more than that. I tried to get the b.net group active and tried to get the name out there. As many people who have made a community knows it isn't easy at all. I only got 58 members in 5 months. Every group has a rough start.
In October 2009, I asked 'oooh em geee' to become Co-Founder of Hope Unto Dawn. He agreed and we started planning and he started creating some graphic designs for the HUD website. I also turned HUD into a general gaming charity community instead of keeping it Halo. About a month later I asked 'Bigstack' to help me out. He is hosting this amazing website. He is also helping with the coding. We also have the awesome 'Tactics'. Thanks to these 3 we have this website up and running. I would like to personally thank you right here. So, THANK YOU GUYS!! I LOVE YOU!!!
My future plans for HUD, well, I would really like to see the community get really big and active. I do plan on trying to turn HUD into an actual charity organization. I think it would something pretty awesome to get into. I do enjoy helping sick and needy people out, it makes me feel better knowing I am doing something for a great cause. I also feel better knowing that I have a great community that is helping me contribute to this cause. I would like to thank each and every one of you.
